funny moments
H Lopardo didn´t sleep until midnight after we recieved a call from E Macas, LD telling us to put our water and a set of clothes with a warm jacket in our bedroom. we were convinced we were going to die haha. turns out that was just a suggestion from him, and not from President.
hna andrea threw a 20BS to us to buy a coke and it got stuck on a balcony below above the street. "THATS 3 COCA COLAS!!" hno henry, her husband
on the way to the temple E Preslar was practically sitting on the window because he didn´t want to touch shoulders with me hahah.
Hna Jhaneth Morales, my old pensionista from Frutillar, calls E. Sueldo Elder Wilson because shes still thinking about me haha
"no es feo, pero tampoco es guapo" hna lopardo
singing "im so glad when daddy comes home" in the conferencia de zona and all of the elders climbing on elder farnsworth because he was "daddy"
"we need to clean the chapel like we were cleaning for our mother-in-laws coming" hna de la estaca "i never clean for my suegra. que venga and clean for ME!" hna lourdes hahaha (shes always so sweet, ive never heard her with rage)
blessings
our NDH with the familia varela monday BOMBED. ive never been in such a horrible lesson. we showed a clip from meet the mormons and they got seriously offended because they thought we were trying to paint a picture of happy mormons without problems and ignoring all of the million problems of the world. we tried to explain thats not at all what we were tryingto show, but the members that were with us didnt help matters and in short terms we shared powerful testimonies but left and in the house cried horribly. it broke my heart. BUT. it helped hna lopardo and i get closer. we talked about how we felt and listened to music and the spirit returned to our hearts.
finally found Eduardo Maraza again, and he wants to listen to us and be baptized, he knows the church is true, the only problem is working with the suegro of his sister Fidelia so he can be free to make his own choices and not be treated like a servant ofthe house/babysiter.
hno eduardo duran kept his promise to come to clases de ingles
lunch was super good tuesday. yes it was rice, potatoes and chicken, but it was GOOD. (seasoned with mustard, soy sauce, garlic, pepper, and lemon).
saw hna chambi sitting alone and crying outside of the temple and went to her to talk. she didnt tell me what was happening but at least she knows shes not alone.
saw another woman crying in the street. we were walking to a cita and her hair was almost completely in front of her face but i stopped in my tracks and looked tot he right and there she was. we talked with her, testified of the plan Dios has for her, and left her with a folleto and she gave me a smile at the end. no idea what happened with her either, but it was so special to be able to be shown the unseen that needed the love of their Father.
PODER i felt inside the temple. i have no doubt that what goes on inside is true & sacred.
i saw hna miriam in the temple! shes from frutillar, another one of my pensionistas, and such a sweet, sweet woman! shes still not married but hopefully soon before i leave CBBA! (if i ever leave haha)
in the temple store there was a fan in the corner and i stood under it for five minutes. everyone was sweating in that store, it was ridiculously hot, but the fan..... oh, what a blessing.
hno jaime says my spanish has improved a TON since he first met me! woo! progress!
H Meri Crespo went to visit with us. we were in a lesson and i asked her how she felt when she reads the LDM and she said "i feel peace". it was short and so simple but so powerful. i was so proud of her for sharing her testimony and know its going to help her grow.
we found hno Jhalmar crespo and helped him with his questions about God. i didnt just tell himthe answers, i helpped him find them. it was a powerful lesson and i saw a change in him. teach a man to fish and hell never hunger more. :)
hna lopardo bought these fruit candy things, a whole bag for 2 BS, and shared. bless her heart. <3
we read the LDM with Adriel Crespo. hes in ALMA! what! so happy hes reading his LDM, if he told us the truth. :)
hna roberts sang "be still my soul" in zone conf with e farnsworth playing the piano and it was amazing. one of my favorite songs and those two are going to be famous one day sí o sí.
i loved the talk by hna hansen about gossiping. she shared two examples... one, of the army of helaman and what would have happèned if they had been gossiping about one another, how they wouldnt have had the strength and unity and faith needed to conquer. and how a man was told to go to a top of the mountain and cut open a feather pillow, and that he needed to return later and pick up every feather, but he couldnt- only a handful- and that its the same with our words. once they leave our mouth, we dont know where they go and we cant ever get them back.
the testimonies of dying missionaries were sincere. no shoutouts were made and no jokes were attempted. theres a lot of amazing missionaries dying, but im grateful for their examples and testimonies.
pres hansen shared an example ill never forget. a returned missionary who had been inactive for 20 years without records even and in bad habits, came to him when he was a bishop for help to repent. pres (bishop) hansen asked what caused the change, and the man said the baby of his friend was sick and died. he knew he had the power of the priesthood and to save her, but he was unable to use it worthily, and he had extreme guilt. such a powerful example of the power of the priesthood, atonement, and always being worthy for what life throws at you.
we had an activity with the primary, we contacted in the plaza with the kids as "missionaries" (fake placas and all). super special experience, and super special to see anabel (who isnt even a member!) have more courage at the end to talk to the people. :)
hna lopardo trusted in me more personal things this week. so glad she trusts me. :)
we were waiting for hna andrea, and hna lopardo and i went back and forth saying memorzied scriptures.. it was weirdly fun. maybe im just a missionary nerd now but i was happy that i had scriptures to share off of memory. :) its never been a strength of mine.
testifying to miguelina crespo that she is fulfilling her baptismal covençants by çcaring for and loving so much her dying suegra. i saw her recieve peace.
SO MANY /HIGHLIGHTS/MIRACLES THIS WEEK. il try to be quick.. my hands are cramping..
1. hna lopardo asked me if i had an empty journal i could give her. we went to my maleta and i gave her one. she looked it over, and without making eye contact, asked me how much i wanted for it. i told her i didnt want her money, that she could have it. she thanked me, said it was beautiful, and asked where i got it. i had gotten it at walmart, but we started talking about desseret book.. and she said "one day, i want to be in that store". it was such a humbling and special experience for me. i take for granted too often the simple blessings i have in life. im so privelaged to have everything i need at my fingertips en casa. theres no such thing as desseret book here, and people have to travel for hours just to get a hold of a copy of the BOM or Bible. it inspiried me to be more faithful and grateful for lo que tengo.
2 i prayed to find my temple recomendation (you cant enter without it) the night before the temple. i had no idea why it wasnt in my wallet where i always keep it. i kneeled, prayed sincerely to find it, and after i said "amen" the spirit told me clearly "top drawer". so weird, because it was in english, and i always think and pray and talk in spanish (maybe it sbecause i forgot how to say drawer hahaah) but i reached in my drawer, picked up my study journal, and there it was below . SO incredible. so simple. without leaving my knees i gave a prayer of thanks. such a quick & clear response. im sure He was watching down at me that moment and showed His mercy on me imediately.
3 im truly a different person than who i was. while i was in the shower, hna lopardo deleted (not purposefully) all of my fotos. when i discovered i had not a single foto, i was calm. i didnt think angry thoughts or yell or think of ways to get even. i was calm, and was grateful the day before i had downloaded them to my flashdrive. i had automatic perdón and it was an example to hna lopardo and i both. she cried because she felt so bad but i just hugged her and told her it was okay. and it is. im extremely more patient and forgiving, although i still have a long ways to go.
4. Miguelina, Meri, Jhalmar, and Adriel Crespo ALL went to church with us and took the sacrament. :) it was SO special sitting with them. it was like sitting with family, and they were TOGETHER. ive never seen them take the sacrament. we filled an entire row of chairs (no hay benches). :)
5 the spirit TAN especial after singing hymns and giving a priest hood blessing to hna rosa, dying suegra of miguelina crespo. she told someone to go buy her poison so she could drink it (she was tired of being in pain) and the person bought it! luckily she didnt drink it bc hna miguelina came.. but anyways. shes in bad conditions but the psiirt brought SUCH peace, and after the blessing was given there was such a sacred reverence in the room. i have so much respect for the elders and any man worthy of the priesthood. its such a blessing to have.
6 speaking of.... hna lourdes has been sick, but got worse real fast this past week. her husband (who hadnt known she was sick, pobrecito) carried her to the hospital. the doctors did tests and diagnosed her with a couple of different things, some of which are "incurable". the elders ran into us when we were on our way to visit her after she was released from the hospital and they offered to come and give her a blessing. after explaining what a blessing of salud is, and that it requires faith, they gave her a blessing and afterwards she said "i feel peace. its like im sleeping, but im awake." it was so special, and she and her nonmember husband jaime both promised to come to church. jaime didnt end up coming, he had a work emergency, but she did. :) and afterwareds, when we visited her and presented her visitng teachers to her, she told us that the day after her blessing she wa in the hospital and she went to buy medicine the doctos said she needed or shed get even worse, but she didnt have the money. she prayed that somehow things would work out and He would provide a way. and He did. when she got home, she had an apetite and was able to eat. and her body began to heal. her body is healing of "incurable diseases". the testimony she shared was so sweet and tender. she knows the priesthood is real, miracles exist, and God knows and loves her. i testified to her that its bc of her faith- she had faith instead of doubts, and for that He fulfilled His promise. <3 such an amazing experience to be a part of. the priesthood is real, sí o sí. miracles exist. its truly the power of God, the same power Jesus had when he healed the sick and raised the dead we have on Earth today.
there it is, my whirlwind of a week. i hope you have the same, and can find the blessings admist the chaos of life.
He lives.
